Welcome to 20s Plenty for East Lothian
The aim is for East Lothian to have a 20mph default speed limit where people live, work, shop, play and go to school - without traffic calming where there is no calming already.
Why?- 95% reduction in risk to pedestrians and cyclists. Also - more walking and cycling means less pollution, less noise, less fear and a better quality of life. And safer for children and the elderly.
20's Plenty for Us is the national voluntary organisation that supports communities who want lower speed limits on their streets - www.20splentyforus.org.uk
E.L.'s Council Plan 2012-2017 states one of its key actions is to "introduce measures to reduce speeding, including 20mph speed limits where supported by residents". LATEST NEWS ...
